As if he knew she was thinking about him (and wouldn’t that be funny— Spider-Man, a telepath), her phone rang, the opening notes of the Star Wars Main Theme spilling out into the train car. Jean answered it before the noise could wake anyone.
“Hello?” She asked quietly. Drawing attention on the train was the last thing she needed right now.
“Hey Jean!” Peter’s voice crackled over the line. The sound of traffic muffled his voice.
“Are you calling me on the job again?” She asked in exasperation. “You should wait until you get home.”
“Nah!” Peter grunted, and yes, he was definitely swinging around the city right now. “Evil never sleeps, and neither do I, but that doesn’t mean I can’t make time for my favorite partner in crime.”TLDR: Jean Grey needs a big brother. Peter Parker needs someone to protect. They both need to figure their new world out before everything explodes.
