Sandrone didn’t know when these strange emotions—these strange reactions to the smallest things Columbina did—had begun. They’d somehow gotten worse these days, even. They were like infesting weeds that you didn’t notice until it was too late, and no matter how much Sandrone tried to clean them out, they kept springing back. Nevertheless, they were unacceptable. She couldn’t afford to indulge herself in something as fickle as romance. Her plans in life had no room for fluttering feelings for anyone, much less her own best friend.
As long as she ignored these emotions, Sandrone knew that they’d eventually fade away for good. And everything would be as it should. Until then, Sandrone would endure. Endure Columbina’s unknowing affection and the betrayal of her own physiology behind closed doors.

Shin looked around. She was unfazed by the stares she received from the clan heads and the citizens watching on, knowing that she felt no pressure to say yes if she truly wished not to do so. Maybe it was her moral code – innocent lives had already been taken, and many more were still at stake. Or maybe it was the idea of doing the contract for Sabine, and no one else. A combination of both, possibly. Whatever it was, Shin answered thereafter.
As a witcher, it was true that she despised working with others at all costs. But in every rule was an exception, and Sabine would always be the exception to every last one of Shin's.

"When the Fourth Harbinger leaned down and kissed the remains of cake on her lips, Furina had a general idea of where this was going. She could feel the woman’s pulse when she dove her fingers into her hair and her quickened breath through her nose.
Furina herself wasn’t in a much better state. Her body was suddenly coming alive under the Harbinger’s touch and her brain wouldn’t shut up, justifying the wrongness of it with fact upon fact. It was almost a relief when Arlecchino’s tongue found its way to her lips and Furina’s mind went completely blank."

“You still want an under boob tattoo?” She raised an eyebrow, looking down at Furina’s chest for a quick second. “It has to fit.” She chuckled, very aware of the effect she had on her client. “You can keep your top on if you want.”

All heads whip in Arlecchino’s direction. Immediately, delighted gasps come from the children, surprise and excitement mixing into a rising chatter.
Furina is the first to catch her eye. Naked shock runs across her face and Arlecchino almost wishes she had a Kamera on her to capture the moment. But then, the shock quickly fades, and an ecstatic smile breaks across her lips.
“Princess!”

The Knave stood. As she went to the door, she said, “We have more in common than you think, Lady Furina. We are both prisoners.”
“And what prison is yours? The Fatui?”
She shrugged just as she had when she entered. “Always a pleasure to hear your thoughts, former Archon.”
Despite Furina's desperation to leave the last 500 years behind her, she continues to be haunted by them. She becomes a social recluse in all her shame, caging off old friends and coworkers. What makes matters worse is that the Knave keeps sending her apologetic desserts, and with each one, Furina is more sure that the woman is purposely tormenting her. As the Knave continues to weave herself into Furina's life, Furina finds that she might be the only person who understands her.

Furina’s laugh was cut short as they approached the Fountain of Lucine. She’d once seen it every day when she had been playing the part of an Archon. The star of Fontaine. The sight would always fill her with memories of her unsavory past, but in this particular moment, she felt drawn to it. She grabbed Arlecchino by the hands and dragged her to the fountain.
“Fontainian couples used to come here to pray for children. Not long after, they’d be blessed with a pregnancy and healthy babies, as if by magic.”
“Did they now? Well, my dear, how would you like to try it for ourselves?”
