Summary
After your family and community die in an outing with a group of Fireflies, you and your childhood best friend Lloyd set out from your home in Flagstaff, Arizona, searching for an unheard-of settlement in East Wyoming. Yet, chaos plagues the journey north, and in fear of who you thought was an innocent boy, separate from Lloyd and give him false directions to the settlement, deciding to make the journey alone. Nearly dead, you reach Jackson, glad to be alive but stripped of any hope of ever living a normal life again.
In order to help you settle in, Maria asks Joel to take you in with him and his daughter Ellie for the time being. Slowly, Y/n's hard exterior begins to melt, and the glimmering opportunity of a brighter future begins to make itself clear in her mind.
