    Summary

"I remember when you were young… hot-blooded," Ormund started, voice scarcely above a whisper as he pushed aside Gwayne's other leg and dipped his head down to kiss along his thigh. "I allowed you all of those flights of fancy you couldn't seem to ignore. Jousts, tourneys, feasts. The hour would grow late and you would vanish beyond my grasp with some handsome young thing you'd hounded for hours."

"I allowed it because I knew you would compare," Ormund's kisses burned as they neared the joint of his hip. "At every moment you would compare them to me and find them lacking." He released Gwayne's thighs and pressed his palms into the bed, rising up to meet Gwayne once again, the tips of their noses so nearly brushing. "The best deterrent for your straying was to let you disappoint yourself."

    Summary

He used to think loving Ormund was his penance for the deviation of his nature. That sharing him with the gods, being secondary to his devotion to the faith of Seven was the worst that could have happened to him. The pain of knowing he was not enough, never enough accompanying him every day since he was a young boy. Because what beside momentary relief he had to offer in comparison to afterlife in heavens?

But even with Ormund, the hours after sunset and before sunrise belonged to him. He was devoted to the gods but in those short hours, there was no deity but Gwayne for him. He was the sole object of his desires, the one he fell to his knees before.

    Summary

It was an invitation disguised as a taunt. Ormund would not be accepting it.

Gwayne looked at him fully then, and there was nothing soft in it. This was something with teeth. "If you were one of the lads I had under me, I wouldn't be kind to you at all."

Ormund stubbed his foot on a loose flagstone, and he burned up the air with several violent curses that had men nearby pausing to observe with wide eyes.
