Max hadn’t expected that when he decided to join his father in taking back their lives from Red Hearts and her mother, that instead he would find himself back on the HK’s side, in another timeline, and with more than a few unplanned jump-alongs. He also hadn’t expected that this timeline would show parts of him to his friends that he thought he would keep secret until he died—whenever that ended up being-- or that he would have to face those secrets head on.

Beginning with a brief rewrite of the fifth Descendants movie, going more in depth on headcanons and improvised lore for the characters—since we don't really know too much about this timeline-- then diverging after Max and Chloe face Red in the underground room, where the Wonderland-Crew find themselves shoved into the original timeline, exposing secrets on all sides of the clock hand.

“My feet are so tired,” Yahaba whined, stretching the word ‘tired’ to emphasize. Lifting his head and glaring at Kentarou, Yahaba spoke again, “we should take a break, definitely.” before closing his eyes and dropping his head back onto his bed.
“We just got here,” Kentaoru grinned, something he tended to do more now, bringing his bag and setting it on the ground next to Yahaba’s. “And I’m pretty sure you’re only supposed to take breaks once you’ve actually started something.” Kentarou walked closer,s o he was standing next to Yahaba’s head, looking down at him, more specifically his closed eyes. Even more specifically, his eyelashes that were too long to be real dammit.
“You're no fun Kyoutani,” Yahaba laughed, his eyes crinkling open to look at him, but the rest of what he said was drowned out by the blood rushing to Kentaou’s face and head.
Yahaba had said his name plenty of times before, but standing here, looking down at Yahaba, with his eyes squirting up at him, a smile so bright it could light up the world, and domestic happiness and trusting painted in the way he laid in front of Kentarou, he was struck by how desperately and wholly in love he was.

Max always wore his hat. He’d had it since the Isle and never once thought about replacing it.
He had humored his friends in trying on some other hats, but didn’t care for any of them. When he went back to get his hat, it was gone.
This caused more issues than Max (or anyone else, for that matter) thought it would.
Turns out, he has Wonderlandian magic that his father never told him about.

Luis only smirked back, unfazed. “Drop the act, Max. You and I both know those moves worked on you just fine. No one’s buying the cold shoulder.”
“Oh, so the big boy can speak now?” Max pointed a finger off toward the distant hills. “What do they feed you up on that mountain, Madrigal? Extra hay?”
Luis scoffed at his ex-boyfriend. God, it was pathetic how much he still missed him. “Why don’t you just keep it moving, Hatter?” He stepped directly into Max’s space, leaning down so his breath brushed Max’s cheek. “I’m sure this prep has plenty of chaos waiting for you to cause, right, Maxie?”

They're Chuuya and Dazai until they're Soukoku until they're an unrivaled, unstoppable force and somewhere in the middle of all of that the constant, unwavering presence in the back of Chuuya's mind stakes a claim in his partner and it's easily ignorable until suddenly, it isn't.
That's what makes me love you, Dazai said when they first met, before trying and failing to pass it off as a joke, and now Chuuya understands how the realization can hit you like lightning, so sudden and overwhelming and unwanted. Dazai looked ashamed after he said it. Chuuya thinks he understands that now, too.
Or, Chuuya will go to any lengths for Dazai. He never expects that the reverse is also true.
