Maddox is in a comical amount of layers for a Utah summer. East High hoodie (Ashlyn's) under a button and badge decorated denim jacket. Sweats with airline brand socks pulled over the elastic at the ankle. Headphones, like usual, around her neck. A general pissed off look on her face, similar to that of when she stayed up all night studying and then, powered by Monster Energy and spite, ran through the first day of tech week like a beast and made every single man in the room cry. This is what reminds Ashlyn that Maddox just got off of a fifteen hour flight, and she tells herself to rein in the enthusiasm. Which only works for as long as it takes for Maddox to meet her eyes across the room.
They break out into twin grins, ear to ear.or, Ashlyn reflects on the queerness of her childhood and is reunited with Maddox
