They'd hung him up, buried the stake through his hand and torn through his scalp with their cruel blade. The wounds were still fresh; stained bandages still covered his body, yet he picked up the knife. Right through their hearts, he'd stabbed. Just as they'd done to him—they would learn. He ignored their pleas for help, just as they'd ignored his. Would the Tall Man be happy now? He couldn't help but wonder. Had he been the one to drive him to this? The pressure inside his temples—the foreign concepts plaguing his mind that he knew weren't his own. Was that the Tall Man?
The thoughts rang through his head as he walked, bloody knife in his good hand. There was nothing he could do now, of course. Both parents dead, sanity in tatters. He couldn't just go to town with blood staining his clothes. They'd know what he did, they'd lock him up—no matter how rightful it had been.
