That damn dress was the bane of his existence.
The dress, from creation to end, had never before been touched by a man. Only the priestesses of Hylia ever handled the thing. Hundreds of years ago, a group of silkworms had been bought by the priestesses from some long-lost source, and for thousands of generations, silkworms were bred and hatched by the holy women, cared for as delicately as if the insects were extensions of the Goddess, herself. As the silkworms crafted themselves into their cocoons, the priestesses would handpick them, boiling and unraveling each pod before weaving the collected silk into bolts that they then cut, sewed and blessed into a prayer gown for the head of their church: the princess of Hyrule, the last living blood daughter of Hylia. Zelda.

Summary
Link and Zelda have been getting along well since he saved her from the Yiga clan attack three months ago. Since their time on Irch Plain, though, they've gotten too friendly for Link's comfort with the eyes of the whole world trained on them. Link, when he remembers himself and his station, tries to keep their relationship professional, but Zelda is no longer content with their status quo.
One night, far away from the castle but still within range of unwanted memories, she asks him a question that had been plaguing her since they met so many years ago. In the time it takes to answer her question, Link wonders if he isn't tired of their status quo, either.
