Summary
This isn’t fair, Stanley wanted to argue, to ask what was so wrong with what he said, to understand why it seemed he could never say the right thing, that he could never please Xeno enough. Still, nothing else left his mouth. His eyes abandoned Xeno’s resentful expression, landing on his wounded leg instead. Xeno never spared any efforts to ensure Stanley was well aware about how inadequate he acted, how bothersome the circumstances he caused were and how much he despised that Stanley ruined whatever they had previously.
He never asked to lay in a bed with a useless body, a useless brain and haunted by the ghost of the man he had once been. The man Xeno mourned openly, in his presence, as if he was nothing but an impostor that had taken his body without permission.
It wasn’t fair.

Summary
Stanley said nothing, thumbs rubbing at the fabric. The curtains were drawn in Xeno’s room, the only light bleeding in from the bathroom, the vent whirring. Xeno felt dizzy as he clumsily cupped Stanley’s face, shadowed. He tilted the man’s face up, the weak light from the bathroom highlighting his straight nose and glossy purple lips. In Xeno’s drunken mind, he didn’t notice Stanley’s breath catching in his chest, the way his amber gaze poured over his flushed face, anticipatory.

Summary
He hated being embarrassed. Whether through rejection of a project, or social awkwardness, or talking to someone who clearly thought he was stupider than he was. It was humiliating, the complex only growing during his college years and festering during the early years of his professional career. He thought he had defeated it, becoming important within his chosen field, respected and listened to. He had mastered his craft.
He hadn’t mastered Stanley, however. And everything that came with that.
