This is a story about Robby successfully ending his life, only to wake up in a different reality, where things are similar but nothing is the same.
And it's a story about him cycling through hundreds, maybe even thousands, of lives in different realities, each one stranger than the last.
Until he finds one he wants to stay in. One where he can smell the ozonic scent of a man he wants to mate.
Which is odd, considering Robby has never yet been in a reality where Alphas and Omegas exist.

Summary
Housesitting for his boss while he's away seems like a pretty sweet deal. All Dennis has to do is feed a neighbourhood cat and find those plants that Robby asked him to water. That is, until he needs some plumbing advice and realises that Doctor Robby might not be as honest, okay, or unavailable as the man first appeared.
Also known as: clinically avoidant and chronically burnt-out Robby tries really, really hard not to pin his entire will to live on one first-year resident and almost succeeds. Then the cat distribution system baby-traps them.

Look after yourself, kid,’ Robby said, flinging out a hand to rest on Dennis’s shoulder, giving it a gentle squeeze. ‘Don’t let this place wear you down.’
‘Yes, sir,’ Dennis replied once more. and then he struggled to parse the strange flickering expression that passed over Robby’s face. The man looked exhausted, and not just long shift exhausted, but bone-dead tired. ‘I hope you have fun, get some rest, well-earned time off, and all that,’ he added with what he hoped was a reassuring smile.
