"You knew." His voice started in a low whisper of disbelief but it rose higher and higher as he spoke until he was shouting. "All this time you knew and yet you still accepted it? Is this some sort of ritual to humiliate me?” Akechi balled up his fists, flexed them, then scrunched them up again. “Why?”
His nostrils flared and the vein in his forehead threatened to bulge, but there was no going back now so Akira stated with all the casual confidence he could muster. “It's my engagement ring.” He wiggled his gloved hand for extra effect.
In which a stray comment over Akira's 'totally normal and not out of the ordinary at all' obsession with Akechi's glove leads to a plan that will hopefully save both their lives.

Summary
"You hate the feeling of lotion on your hands too? I'll do it then." Akira didn't wait for a response before he grabbed the tube of medicated cream and began unscrewing the cap. Of course he thought this would work, his ridiculous self sacrificial tendencies working overtime even on inconsequential things like burns that had already healed, or keeping Goro's hands free of the sticky lotion.
"You're a fool," Goro said as he batted away Akira's hand from his face. "Why would you think to do such a thing if you hate the feeling of it too?"
Or, Goro has scars from the engine room that healed poorly due to a lack of care and Akira is a little too observant to let that go by unnoticed.

Akira sets down the last box with a satisfied sigh. He still needs to unpack everything, but at least it’s all in the house.
In his house. He can’t help but grin at the thought. He’s finally out of his parents’ place, and he’s not even crammed into some matchbox apartment. No, he’s renting an entire house.
The rent for the place is unbelievably cheap—apparently the landlord’s had trouble keeping folks in the place. Something about it being haunted. Akira doesn’t really believe in ghosts, but honestly, he’d put up with one for rent this low.

The gloved tip of a finger starts to caress the rim of the money jar, running in smooth circles. Not unlike how Akechi sometimes traces the cup of his coffee in Leblanc.
It takes all of Akira’s willpower to not follow the hypnotic movement.
“You seem to have gotten a lot of customers,” Akechi says, demonstratively knocking at the jar twice, never breaking eye contact.
or: Akira agrees to run a kissing booth for the culture festival because he thinks he'd get little to no customers anyway. Turns out he's wrong.
