“I’m sorry,” she says, yet again, at length, fist tightening in his shirt. This time, however, it sounds grave and intentional, rather than just reflexive like previously.
“What for?”
“For… For everything,” she says. “For displacing you when I opened my clinic. For getting off on the wrong foot. For not being better informed about what the Capital did to you all. Everything, I don’t know.”
Matheo doesn’t reply, mostly because he’s not sure how to. If she’d apologized --if she’d even attempted to apologize-- when they first met he would have laughed in her face and told her to go shove a potion bottle up her ass.
Part of him still wants to do that.
