"You were born into a turbulent time, and brought that turbulence with you too, and lived within it, and caused it, an eternal cycle. A harbinger of changing days, that’s what a cast like this means. The axis on which the world will turn.” - Theodore Nott.

Summary
Harry Potter survives a war at seventeen and spends the next three years becoming something between a vigilante, urban legend, and an international problem.
Then Loki comes for the Tesseract.
Unfortunately for SHIELD, Harry has been waiting for the chance to meet him. Fortunately for Clint Barton, the morally questionable wizard with daddy issues seems weirdly interested in him too.
…or maybe SHIELD is fortunate that Harry decides fighting his father sounds fun, and Clint is unfortunate for falling right into feelings.
Eh. They’ll figure it out.

Summary
In his teens, Zuko pored over maps, made plans, chased down every story and rumor, a ceaseless hunter, a sharpened blade begging for blood.
But the years kept passing, and the blade grew dull. The rumors were just rumors. The air temples were empty, the whispers of a dead people just dry leaves scattering in a breeze. He began to realize what his crew and Uncle had known from the beginning, that there was no Avatar, no end to his banishment, no return of his honor.
OR:
The Avatar has never been disturbed, and remains entombed in an iceberg. Zuko is 26 and remains banished, and the tides of war have shifted badly against the Fire Nation since the Southern Water Tribe pulled the North into the war after the marriage of Sokka to Princess Yue. Zuko has received a message – the Fire Lord is ill, and will forgive his son if Zuko is able to bring a waterbender who can heal him.
And there is one waterbender healer who isn’t sitting behind the ice walls of the North.

Summary
“The sun set a little while ago,” he replied, his distaste at divulging his weakness clearly stamped across his face. He diminished when she rose, and vice versa, their elements in fundamental conflict at all times.
Katara paced slowly, eyeing the cavern carefully, assessing it as a living space now rather than as an area solely to escape. “Right. Okay. So, we at least have a general idea of time. We’ll split the bread and eat half now, and hold onto the rest in case they don’t feed us regularly. We need to ration the water, so try to keep your sips shallow.”
Across the cavern, he just stared at her. She continued, “The area in the ceiling that they opened to drop down the food is the same spot where they dropped me through, so that might be where they always open it. We should watch that and confirm a pattern. In the meantime, I think we should set up our sleeping area as far from that as we can get, and definitely put our toileting spot as close to it as we can—”
“Excuse me, our what?” Zuko snapped.

OR:
When the rescue doesn’t come as quickly as it should, Katara and Zuko find themselves in the prison cave below Ba Sing Se for days.

Summary
They holed up in a tiny flat near the river, because they couldn’t afford anything else. She told herself the room was too small for a second bed anyway, and it wasn’t any different from sleeping on Appa all those months ago. Besides, his breathing steadied night after night, and there were worse things than falling asleep beside proof that something she’d mended could stay whole.
But by the time he could cross a room on his own feet, stand at the small window and look out at a city that’d already decided he was dead, there was nowhere for those feet to carry him. “You should go,” he said once. “Find a way out. I wouldn’t blame you.”
“There’s nowhere else to go,” she reminded him, calmly folding a blanket. “Not yet.”

After Sozin’s Comet, the Fire Nation sealed its borders with Katara and a wounded Zuko trapped inside. Five years later, the borders finally reopen, and the new government discovers that its supposedly dead Crown Prince is very much alive.
The Regency Council wants him dead. The Royalists want him on a throne. Zuko just wants to find his uncle. Katara just wants to keep him safe.
No one is getting what they want.
