Summary
First, Chance thought Will was only a misunderstood kid. Surely town had been too cruel to him and his family, surely he was the average flagrant teenager. Then the facade burned down, and Chance thought Will was a devilish creation made to torment him, to condemn him. But now... now Chance could see the truth. Will Byers was the heaven-sent opportunity to redeem himself, to save himself from all the awful things to come for him. And as to it, Chance would give Will whatever he needed, whatever he wanted. If that was to devote himself to him, if that was to devour him, he'd gladly do it.
Or; ST au where the mind flayer wasn't "defeated" at the end of season 2 and it keeps jumping from host to host. Chance's the new host and he thinks he's possessed by a demon. Will decides to get closer to him just to help him.

Summary
Hawkins had a way of getting into its people's minds. In the little time Chance'd been on town, all sort of weird occurrences had happened, but he never truly believed any of the stories and rumors looming around. Not until he ended up stuck on another dimension with the famously-called zombie boy.
Chance'd never been a big fan of scary movies, he very much enjoyed having a normal heart rate. Too bad he fell in love with a pretty much possessed boy.

Will's fingers anxiously knotted in his blanket, the words slipped out of his lips before he could even think about stopping them. "Home doesn't feel like home anymore."
“But does this feel like it?” Chance asked, softly, gently.
"Sometimes."
There was the faintest laugh, quiet enough to be endearing and comfortable. Then, the squeak of mattress springs as Chance lay back again, staring directly at Will.
"Good. Guess that means I'm doing something right."
Or: Will’s identity crisis while having to build a normal life for himself after all the trauma he went through.

The world is falling apart and Will doesn’t even know if he has the right to say that it is happening again, or if it just never stopped happening. When he meets Chance, obnoxious, charming Chance, Will wonders if it’s worth it to put him in danger just for the sake of his heart.
