Summary
Follows She lives in a white tower, and she speaks to the birds.
“I love you, my little star. I have always loved you both, and I will always love you both, the brightest stars ever to bless my life,” Elwing whispered softly.
Elrond said nothing as tears rolled down his face, falling not upon his desk but into his mother’s robes, absorbed into the soft wool as Elwing clutched him tightly into her embrace.
~
Elrond has come home at last - but he is not the only one to return, and the day comes all-too-soon when Elwing receives a letter from one Maedhros Feanorian.

Summary
Of course, Elrond was nothing but a mass of contradictions. He was Fëanorian, and yet not a kinslayer; he was Dior’s grandson, yet treated him as a son; he could well prove to be cruel despite his kind veneer. Logic suggested he should run from any Fëanorian as fast as he could. But if he ignored his hatred of the Fëanorians and looked at Elrond as a person, he found he liked what he saw. He had been honest with Dior from the start, even when it would have been more convenient for him to lie; he was patient; and he seemed kind and gentle. More than any elf he had ever met, he reminded Dior of Beren.
Elrond retrieves Dior, Elurín, and Eluréd from the Halls of Mandos in the Fourth Age and helps them adjust to life in Valinor as half-elves.

Summary
"Tell me you want me to stay, Cel," Elrond said, more forcefully. "Command it, and it will be done."
"I can't," Celebrían said. Her voice was flat.
"You can. You won't," he said. The part of him that was not yet furious could see how the words would slice into her, tried to stop them. The accusation tore itself out of his mouth.
"I can't, Elrond."
It has been two years since Elrond was caught by Orcs in the Redhorn Pass, and he is having a bad day.

Summary
Finarfin escorts Elrond to rest for a while in Elros's company, and encounters rather more family members than anticipated.
--
“No one should need to beg to be healed,” Elrond said, confirming Finarfin’s belief in his goodness and likewise in his Finwëan brand of madness.
“You have done everything you can to see that they will be.”
“And how many will die tonight while you ask me to rest? How many will die because we did not save enough honey, or because too few healers agreed to sail east, or because too many healers were forced to take up weapons in Doriath or Gondolin?” He closed his eyes a moment, though with his arm in Finarfin’s, he did not stop walking. “Forgive me, your majesty. I am overtired.”
