“Let me go,” you retort, your tone sharpened but reedy.
Your soul mate opens his mouth to reply, but he's interrupted by another voice, gruff and entirely too close—you jump when it sounds from right behind you. “Ease up, Johnny. She's skittish.”
The man, your soul mate—Johnny, apparently? You wince internally at the misfortune of his name—flashes the other man a cheeky smile. “I can see that, Lt. Lass would disappear if I let ‘er.”
“So don't let ‘er.”

There’s a pause, then a chuckle that infuriates you. You sit up immediately with a growl.
Because Captain Price stands in the door to your nest-room, and your alpha stands behind him with a frown, massaging his temples like you're just a nuisance.
“‘Stupid, mean captain?’” Price repeats in amusement. “Look at your temper, pup.”
