Summary
Makoto Niijima was top of her class and student council president at prestigious Shujin Academy. Her future was lined up perfectly. But in her senior year all of that came crashing down. A student tried to commit suicide, a teacher confessed to causing it, and the school was complicit in covering it up. Now the principal has tasked her with finding the truth about the group behind the teacher’s change of heart—the mysterious Phantom Thieves. In one, magic ran rampant throughout the universe, wild and free and terrible in its power and majesty.
In another, magic only existed within stories, to fill readers with a sense of hope and wonder. In another world, there was nothing. No light, no dark, no up nor down, not even a sense of self.

In one particular universe, humans evolved…differently. A harsher world led its inhabitants to grow in ways that allowed them to quickly adapt to any challenges their world threw at them. Over time, this ability allowed them to become the dominant species in their planet, as they had in many other worlds.
