Summary
Years have passed since the end of the Hundred Year War. Six months after Zuko became Fire Lord, he sentenced Azula to live her days in the Golden Lotus mental healthcare facility - a place where the nobility of the Fire Nation frequently send those they wish to be forgotten.
With time and work, though, Azula reaches the more comfortable wards that begin to feel more like a care home than the prison-like reaches of the basement she began in. One day, news arrives. News of her mother, her friends Mai and Ty Lee, of her brother and Katara...and that the Avatar is coming to see her.
Recovery is not a linear process, but between the former princess' iron will and the gentle patience of a now grown up Aang, perhaps she'll finally find peace (with herself, with her family, with her friends) - and perhaps even eventually love.
Set in the same universe as the "Eyes of" series hence the tagging, but fic stands alone (and is a multi-chapter story instead of a one-shot).

His eyes are dark when he pulls his searing mouth away from her skin. “That you fall into bed with me when he’s asleep,” he husks lowly, hands nimbly undoing her bindings. “Does he know?”
