"I hate you." Gi-hun says between sniffs. “I hate you.”
In-ho drops the gun, pulls his arm and takes him into a hug. Gi-hun doesn't hug him back, but rests his forehead on his shoulder. "I hate you."
"I know." He runs his fingers through Gi-hun's hair; it really is growing back. "I know."
“I hate you.” His tears dampen In-ho's shirt but he doesn't care. He doesn't dare to let him go.
“Shh… I know.”
The island was destroyed. All that's left are two winners who are learning to deal with the burden of survival.

Jun-ho ignored him and kept eyes locked on the TV.
“Look, I got your favorite.” Nothing.
“You don’t want it?” Silence. “That’s okay. I can eat it for you, no problem.” He took a spoonful of the ice cream. “Hmmm…” He closed his eyes, exaggerating each reaction to the flavour, which he didn’t even like. “Thank god you don’t want this, it’s so good.”
It made Jun-ho look. Then quietly he said, “you forgot me.”
“I’m sorry.”
“I was the only one left. Even the teachers had left.”
“I know, I know. I’m so sorry Jun-ho. I promise this will never happen again.” To that, Jun-ho returned his eyes to the cartoon.
“What can I do to make you forgive your stupid stupid brother?” In-ho asked.

Jun-ho ignored him. “I want you to take me to your work for a day.”
“Why?”
Jun-ho’s big innocent eyes landed on him. “Because when I grow up I'm going to do the same thing.”
“And what exactly do you think I do?”
“You fight bad guys. I'm going to catch all the bad guys in the city and you're going to arrest all of them.”

“I’m changing the terms!” Gi-hun yells, loudly enough that both men go quiet instantly.
Jun-ho just looks confused. “The what?” Gi-hun ignores him, turning to In-ho.
“New deal. Flip the numbers. Forty-six weeks on the island for you and me, six weeks here with Jun-ho. Except you come back to the city with me. You’re still the boss; they can call if something goes wrong and you can be there in a day. Or Jun-ho and I will never stop looking for the island. He found it once. We’ll find it again, eventually.”
Gi-hun refuses to blink first, and he can see In-ho knows this is just another thing he’ll never be able to change his mind about.

“Do you have questions?” Young-il asks, which is rather kind of him, considering it all. So many things were kind of him. Gi-hun stares at the speckles of blood near his lips and imagines him digging flat molars into tender flesh.
“No.” His voice is already hoarse. When they torture him, he won’t even have the chance to plead.
Gi-huns little insurrection doesn’t go over particularly well. As always, it’s the house that wins.
