Summary

Summary
This would be Chris’s favourite part, if they were anywhere but York Prison. The point where he knows the shape of a man’s body in his arms and the way it moves and the way his lips taste, and yet the way he thinks and lives is still a complete mystery. The possibilities are tantalising, ready to be teased out one by one, and he savours the questions as much as the answers. It’s a shame this will end here, but things so often do end here—albeit typically for less dramatic reasons. It’s fine. He’s used to this.
The chair creaks as Thomas’s weight shifts forward, and his mouth opens to deliver a farewell. But he looks Chris in the eye, and something in his face shivers. He clenches his jaw and sits back again. Shit, Chris thinks.
