“Something catch your eye?”
Startled by the sudden voice, Grace whipped around, almost colliding with... well, her eyes shot up, chin too, meeting a pair of unfortunately familiar eyes. Ones that even in the inconsistent lighting of the bar sparkled with… amusement?
Up close, she was even prettier.
Gaze trembling, it fell as Grace flushed, her eyes darting about before settling on a split in the table.
“S-sorry, can you repeat that?” Hopefully a result of the volume of the music and not her own distraction – occupation with all the stimuli.
The air stirred as the woman leant closer, Grace’s stomach giving a kick when she found herself unable to shuffle a space back.
“I asked if anything had caught your eye.”
That’s what she’d thought.
“W-what, n-no, I wasn’t staring,” she blurted, the words blurring together. Grimacing she tried to correct herself, “J-just checking I hadn’t dropped anything.”
Why had she said that?

Agott watches this strange behavior from Coco in silence. This is certainly some new development for her. And although this isn't the first time they've kept each other company in the dead of night, it is the first time that the atmosphere weighs down this heavily on them. Her hand itches for her palm quire then, to sketch out some of those silly spells that brought a smile to Coco's face the last time...
But part of her intuition tells her only to wait. And Agott waits as patiently as she can, as Coco hugs her knees to her chest again, as her hands fidget with the sleeves of her nightgown.
"Do you ever feel like," she says, her gaze and her voice a thousand miles away. "you're not yourself anymore?"

Summary
When Posy moved to the valley, she didn't imagine she'd make such a life for herself. She's never felt particularly beautiful or elegant, and it's been alright for her. Her life in the valley is fulfilling enough. Having a best friend here was more than she could've dreamed, and now that she feels more for her... surely it would be absurd to believe Haley could feel the same (spoiler: it's not!).
Haley felt trapped in the valley until Posy moved in. It used to feel as if the entire world moved outside the valley; now, she doesn't see how anyone can believe they are living who hasn't brushed by the dirt on Posy's overalls. Just about all of Pelican town can see how her heart beats for the farmer, except, well, Posy herself.
