    On his last tour in Afghanistan, Sam is sent on a mission with an external contractor, an aggravating and secretive man named James Barnes. The fact that the mission goes completely FUBAR is in no way helped by him hooking up with Barnes afterwards, though at least he can comfort himself with the fact that he won’t ever have to see him again.

    Almost thirty years after escaping HYDRA, Bucky is still in survival mode, avoiding any real connections with other people as he tries his best to keep existing in the aftermath of what was done to him. Sam Wilson should be just another in a long string of meaningless hookups, someone he will never see again.

    But when has anything in either of their lives ever been that simple?

    Yuna does her research—apparently, a morals clause is common, in contracts like this.

    It bothers her, a little, how vague it is, but ultimately, she doesn’t see an issue with it—at least, not really.

    Shane is many things, and she is so, so excited to see how much more he becomes… but, for all of the many things she imagines in his future, she doesn't think he's capable of doing anything that could be accurately described as scandalous.

    She's wrong.

    Thomas heaves a sigh and waves his hand in the air dismissively. “Yeah, sure. Fine. Whatever. But if you two are some sort of deranged serial-killing duo, at least promise to make the crime scene photos cinematic, m’kay? I want the Netflix true crime doc about us to stay in the Top 10 for weeks.”

    Edwin’s answering look is wry, but not displeased. In fact, it's unfortunately rather hot. “Is that a yes?”

    “Yes,” Thomas agrees before he can think better of it.

    “Good,” Edwin declares, standing abruptly. “Because he’s waiting outside.”

    Mechanic Thomas King is surprised when one of his regulars, beautiful and bitchy Edwin Payne, shows up on his doorstep asking for a favor — his best friend, Charles Rowland, is in need of a job and a place to crash after being kicked out by his old man.
