“Well,” Lavender smiled brightly, curling a piece of blonde hair around her perfectly manicured finger, “You know how Tom Riddle died?”
“Yes?” Hermione said, wondering where she was going with this story. Tom died about a month ago. He was quite young, only in his mid forties, so his death had been somewhat sudden. Wainscott was a small town, full of rich men with large estates. So when someone of Tom Riddle’s wealth- with no heir- passed, the news had spread throughout the coastal town like wildfire.
“Apparently,” Lavender’s smile grew, her voice dropping to a whisper “He’s Tom Riddle senior.”

Summary
He'd made it halfway through writing the first note before it felt suddenly far too pathetic. Was this seriously the legacy he wanted to leave behind? No one would talk about any of his wins if he killed himself now. He would be the failed Russian team captain of the 2014 Olympics who couldn't handle the job and offed himself about it. His father would probably follow him in death just to yell at him for embarrassing the family, and Russia, and everyone who had ever rooted for him.
And when he had been made captain in Boston, he had promised his Bears he would get them a cup. He couldn't just leave without doing that. Didn't want to leave and let people think he was a liar, or that he just gave up when things got hard, lazy, useless, stupid boy.
He tore up the note he'd begun, and began his second plan instead.

Summary
Scent patches were mandatory for anyone participating in World Junior's, but a lot of the Russian guys Shane saw in the hotel or around the rink had them loosely attached to their necks or not quite centered over their scent gland. Shane had been on his way to his parents' car when the wind shifted, and he smelled that Rozanov, leaning against the wall and not-at-all-surreptitiously fishing a carton of cigarettes out of his pocket, must have been one of them.

Summary
Ilya doesn’t seem to go out much, aside from the few times Shane sees him leave and return dragging two armfuls of groceries. He slips out onto the fire escape several times a day, every day, to chainsmoke and look miserable. It’s only natural, given the sheer amount of time he spends out there, that Shane would cross paths with him while using his own patio.
Shane has a four year plan to captain his college hockey team and join the MLH, but none of that will happen if he gets lung cancer from all the cigarette smoke his smartass new neighbor produces, or if he keeps wasting his time meeting him on the fire escape.

Their eyes met once more, but Ilya didn’t look away this time. He lingered on Shane, his eyes heated as they traveled down the length of Shane’s body slowly before coming back up to his face. Ilya wet his lips with his tongue, eyed Shane for a beat more, and then went back to his sketch. Shane’s body flushed hot again and he swallowed hard, desperately hoping his blush wasn't visible.
Shane couldn't believe it when Professor Johnson announced there was only five minutes left. As hard as it was to concentrate on not getting too flustered, it still felt like nothing as he sat there and watched Ilya sketch. He was sure he could pose for hours and never grow tired or bored so long as he got to watch the thoughtful furrow of Ilya’s brow and the delicious purse of his lips as he focused on his work.
or, Shane and Ilya are college students that meet when Shane volunteers as a nude model for Ilya's art class.
