“Wakey wakey, writer boy!”
Alan woke with a start as a bucket of cold water was splashed into his face. Gasping and blinking, he initially started to panic, frantically looking around him as he tried to take in the situation. He was sitting in a sturdy brown chair, his arms bound behind his back with a scratchy rope that cut into his skin when he tried to wiggle free. His wrists already felt rubbed half raw. His jacket had been dropped to the floor, tie slung over his shoulder and his shirt unbuttoned, his nipples tight in the cold air.
Panting and blinking water out of his eyes, Alan raised his head to face his tormentor. It was Scratch, the one he remembered from the videos at the Desert Shore Motel. He was smirking, setting down the bucket he’d used to wake the writer as he unbuttoned his cuffs to roll his sleeves up to his elbows.
“Hey buddy!” Scratch kneeled to be level with Alan, giving him that same, manic smile that he remembered so well. “Did you miss me?”
