Summary
Disconnected with her life and feeling trapped under her parents rule, Dana Scully was desperate for some distraction. But when he walked into her life, carrying love and care she had never experienced, he turned into so much more than a simple distraction.

The first time she saw him he was glaring at one of her father's friends and she had to bit her lip to not say something or trip him to let him fall on his stupid face. Her hatred was short lived though, her attention captured by his dark eyes and sharp jaw, that set under his restraint. She hadn't been able to let him out of her eyes for the rest of the evening, entranced by every movement and every hushed emotion running over his face.The second time she was on the tennis court, sweat dripping down her body and he had hurried, in his all white uniform, along the cage, a pained expression on his face. She had had half the mind to call for him, saying she needed anything to just talk with him, hear the sound of his voice, but then Charlie hit the ball against her leg and by the time she turned her gaze from the glare she gave her brother, he was gone.
The third time she ran straight into his chest and this was where all the trouble really began.

Dana was studying to become a doctor in Baltimore when it happened. As small as a poppy seed.
Her entire world shifted. Her mother had found it shameful, her father, unforgivable. Daniel had found it impossible. Mulder found it… fascinating.'His heart ached for her, and the terrible things that must have led her to even consider this arrangement.
He had to say something, he had to give her a chance to turn around and make a better decision.‘Is this what you want, Dana?’ He asked abruptly, stepping further into her personal space than he had before.
She felt her entire world still, and a raw pain shot through her. Not one person in her life had cared to ask her that yet.
‘It is what must be done.’ She said simply, and the air stung around her words.
He nodded, his eyes dropping from hers to somewhere over her shoulder. He didn’t move away, and Dana felt a scorching heat envelop her body in his presence. She thought it must be fear, or perhaps just a symptom of her situation.
It suffocated her, the dry heat, the deep, woodsy smell of him, the insanity of his questioning. It was all too much.'- Language:

Dana Scully is rebelling from her parent’s set path of medicine by moving away to Connecticut to study forensic science.
"In reality, what annoyed me most was the fact that I was even thinking about him at all. He should be a faceless, nameless bookstore employee. A man that I met once, in such unimportant circumstances that he faded into my memory, his face only to be deployed as a background character in my dreams, the way that the brain recycles old faces you won’t need again.
And I definitely do not need his face, ever again."*
They both keep an intimate secret, one that quickly comes to light as they feel themselves falling for each other. Though they try to fight it, hormones and curiosity get the better of them, and they end up finding a lot more than they ever could have imagined.
