“Ah—Shaoshang isn’t going to visit us by herself,” says Zisheng, so casually that Shen’an nearly doesn’t process the meaning until a few seconds later, at which point she nearly drops her mug.
“Why not?” she asks, eyes narrowing. “What have you done?”
“Nothing,” says Zisheng. “But she thinks spending time alone with me would be unfair to her boyfriend.”
“Zisheng,” Shen’an groans.
