    Summary

Aizawa had spent years teaching students that surviving was not the same as winning. He had watched too many heroes throw themselves into danger because they believed retreat meant failure.

    The screen went dark.

    The stadium fell silent.

Aizawa already knew what came next.

“Ladies and gentlemen,” the announcer said, voice rising with anticipation, “this year’s No. 1 Pro Hero is—Shouta Aizawa, Eraser Head!”

For several seconds, Aizawa simply stared.

    The crowd erupted.

"Hah?" he and Kayama chorus at the same time.

"Yeah! I would've tried to drag him with me either way, but I have a job to do, so I can't spend the night with him. And since you're looking for a partner, you could just bring him for me!" Yamada clasps his hands together in a pleading motion. "Make sure he has a good time and all. I'm sure you could."

Hawks, out of necessity, is a private person. Aizawa is, too. There are certain conversational rules they’ve maintained, despite having never articulated them.

Technically, tonight’s conversation doesn’t break any of those rules.

A month of working together shouldn't be a problem.

That's what Aizawa tells himself when Bakugo returns to U.A. as a guest trainer.

The problem is that some feelings don't fade nearly as easily as they're supposed to.
