    Summary

Barry Allen is 22, an exhausted, shy orphan perpetually teetering on the edge of a diabetic crisis, working a soul-crushing job to pay down his rising medical debt. He exists on $40 a week, rationing insulin and fighting the debilitating physical effects of chronic scarcity.

When he spills scalding, custom-blend coffee on Leonard Snart—the ruthless CEO of Snart Industries—Barry expects immediate termination and financial ruin. Instead, Snart, a man who views the world only through the lens of absolute efficiency, sees an opportunity. He dissects Barry’s panic, his desperation, and his impending system failure, classifying the chaotic courier as a "Volatile Asset" that needs optimizing.
