Summary
He crawled back to camp, stomach knotting itself with hunger, nearly doubling over from the pain, the need. He was thankful that no one had been badly injured that day - no scent of blood lingering in the air to drive him deeper into desperation.
He was also thankful that Jen hadn't questioned him putting his tent a distance from the others, though he barely had enough energy to grab his bedroll and drag it inside. He collapsed into the middle of the assorted blankets and pillows he'd accumulated, burying his face in them.
After a long moment, Astarion turned over so he was laying on his back, and settled his breathing into a routine pattern. Maybe, hopefully, reverie would let him ignore his hunger for a few hours.

It's been nine days since Astarion found freedom via a tadpole in his brain and being dumped in the wilderness. Nine days since he tagged along with people that were either annoyingly kind or annoyingly secretive.
Nine days of near-constant travel, combat and hunting animals for food. Nine days of slow, crippling exhaustion and a lack of enough blood to sustain him.
Nine days of being tormented by the memory of a drop of Jen's blood, and he was desperate.

Summary
Right as expected, she turned away, her gaze dropping to the river. Her shoulders slumped as she let out a heavy sigh, and she didn't turn back when she spoke.
"I don't have the energy to deal with you tonight. Whatever you want to get out of me, I don't have the strength. I'd ask you a favour, but…" She let out a harsh laugh, more of a bark of frustration. "You'd only use that to mock me or belittle me. Or blackmail me, come to think of it."
It was Astarion's turn to laugh; a light, bubbly one that had a hint of mischief to it. "On my honour, I shall listen to your request, no mocking. Cross my heart and hope to…well, you know."

The last thing Astarion had expected when the Priest of Loviatar propositioned Jen for a session of penance was for her to accept
And the last last thing he expected that night was for Jen to agree to his help in cleaning up her injured back; doubly so when it turned from simple medical attention into something far more erotic

Summary
Astarion paid no heed to the blood staining his trousers or that dripping down his nose; he walked back to Jen and knelt before her, working to breathe through his mouth and quash the hunger that rose to the surface despite the multitude of vile smells around. He didn’t need to breathe, but old habits died hard, especially after a fight.
It took more effort to ignore the gnawing pains than it did to stop his breathing, so he did the latter as he looked over Jen’s wounds. Her chest had three small, dark blossoms of blood and her shoulder had a thin trail working its way down; the bleeding at her leg had slowed to the occasional drop, ordinarily a good sign that the wound had begun to clot, but one glance at Jen’s pale face said otherwise.

Jen and Astarion take a moment to clear up any remaining goblin stragglers, but after stepping into a trap they're attacked and both Jen and Astarion are injured, bleeding, and facing death
Until Jen sacrifices the last of her blood to save Astarion, and he has to deal with all the emotions that come with such a sacrifice and the conversation he and Jen are going to have when she wakes

Summary
Astarion and Inara sitting under a tree, B-I-C-K-E-R-I-N-G.
They surely do far more than that in this fic series, but that's the main thing to know regarding their act 1 dynamic. I won't even pretend this is slow burn, or rather it IS a slow burn but they also have sex all the time. It is, um, complicated. But such is Inara's "quiet" 183 yrs life of surviving wars, monster slaying and bounty-hunting wanted, criminal people. Once she's abducted and tadpoled, the mindflayers also dropped this sad wet cat vamp into her lap for safekeeping. Fair enough since she was elected leader of all these weirdos anyway. So what's one more, eh? If only he could stop complaining and being a little shit for five full minutes, that would be great. And why is she having dream-visions from his pov now?

Summary
It's an unfortunate elf who has no soulmate- a person intended to be there for you life after life. Reborn in another form, new each lifetime. A lover, a mother, a sibling, or a friend. Inara Liadon is one such elf, with no inkling of her thiramin existing in all her 183 years of life. Free and unbound, she lives a life of her own choosing, but despite being a shrewd ranger and capable monster and bounty hunter, her own inner demons remain unslain.
Early on in his captivity as vampire spawn and doomed to inbetweens of undead and shadows, Astarion prayed to any god who would listen to free him from his torment, from Cazador. And other than he always thought, one indeed listened, nudged and wove the threads, so then with the right time reached, the path for him would open up.
A series of interwoven stories of them clashing, bickering, and clawing their way to, and choosing, each other, again and again. Two souls reuniting by the happenstance of broken compulsion, the nautilus crash, cults and tadpoles, that now having to find a way to survive, and with it also maybe finding understanding and healing in and with each other.

Summary
On the fifth night of their involuntary tadpole misadventure together, Monster Hunter Inara (Tav) clashes with the realm's most obvious vampire when he tries to take a clandestine bite of her. But as with every plan Astarion had come up in his unlife so far, it contains one step only. So what if this gremlin vampire cat actually is forced to face and deal with the consequences of his bite-y actions? Chaos and hilarity ensues, of course.
Or, tfw Astarion has slurped up the only person in camp willing to help him in spite of his vampie... everything, and now has to find a way to bring Inara back. Ideally before the others in camp wake up and bring out the stakes and torches.
A character-focused, introspective version of Bite Night and its events beyond with its serial numbers filed off, because canon is just a guideline anyway, and thus goes way beyond the mere scene. Because perhaps in between the hunger, flailing, misconceptions and bickering a first understanding between Inara and Astarion can be gained. One that actually transcended lifetimes.
Rating is for Chapter 1 only. Everything else is SFW.
