Summary
Phoenix was looking at him, waiting for him to go on, and Miles realized the hand on his hip was purely innocent. Just Phoenix being tactile.
He cleared his throat. “As I was saying, Nickel didn’t correct Infant when he said that Magistrate killed his father. Now, we see that Magistrate killed a part of himself when he took the Titanium Plunge. Nickel not correcting Infant means he thinks Magistrate killed the part of himself that---that---”
“That what?” Phoenix asked. As if he wasn’t currently sliding his fingertips under the hem of Miles’ pajama shirt.

Summary
It had been a while since his last rut. Ever since his disbarment and therefore the adoption of Trucy, he had to change his alphagen healthcare plan. He didn’t have the money to get his quarter-yearly rut suppressor shots. Taking daily pills wouldn’t be an option either, as Phoenix was too much of a scatterbrain to remember when to take his hormones.
Now, his nose was itchy, and his senses were heightened. And what was that smell? Tea leaves with a hint of lemon?
No way! Phoenix couldn’t deal with that man on top of everything else that happened. Not when he was experiencing pre-rut. Not since he purposefully ignored the other man for half a year, when he had lost his badge.
