Summary
When it comes to the California wasteland, there aren’t a lot of places to want to hunker down, but if there was one to pick, it would be The Hub. It’s got a little bit of everything a surface dweller could want: water, lodging, gambling, murder.
Of course, death out in the wastes is not a novel thing, but reports of caravans gone missing have become more frequent and, more importantly, bad for business. Afraid for their losses, the town’s traders start posting jobs for bounty hunters and caravan guards to nip the problem in the bud.
Lucy MacLean, sole proprietor of Little Lucy’s Finger Foods is one of those traders in need of support for her upcoming monthly trek to Junktown to get supplies for the upkeep of her shop. Luckily for her, Cooper Howard, bounty hunter, gun-for-hire, and newcomer in town happens to know the trek to Junktown especially well and he’s looking for work.

Now, we ghouls may be missin’ a few pieces o’ typical facial appendages, as it were, but our sense o’ smell is better than you would ever believe. How d’you think I found you by that little pond, hm? All covered in blood like you was, I could’a hunted you across the Mojave just by scent alone, an’ I weren’t even hungry. Gets stronger when we start gettin’ hungry, and those boys out there? They’re starvin’.”

Lucy and the Ghoul wake a nest of ferals while on the hunt for some ammo and end up hiding out in an elevator to keep from becoming their next meal. Lucky for Lucy, the Ghoul knows exactly how to get them both out of there alive.

AKA, cooper returns from a job one night to find lucy drunk at the local bar. he brings her back to their room where she makes one too many drunken confessions that he initially plans on never bringing up again. except she makes it quite difficult to ignore and forget

Summary
She rummages through her bag for food. Finds a single can of cram. It’s not her favourite, but it’s better than nothing. She cracks it open and takes a few bites before offering the can to Cooper. He glances at the food, and then at her before letting out a grunt and rolling his shoulders.
“That must be ghoul for no, thank you.” she mutters under her breath.
At least she’s trying. Even if he doesn’t make it easy.

Cooper takes up the armchair in the small room while Lucy climbs into the bed after her so-called meal. Dogmeat curls up on the bed with her. He watches them both fall asleep before getting up to check that the door to the room is locked. And the window, for that matter. He also draws the torn curtains closed, just to be extra safe.
Tch. He never used to be so cautious. Never cared about security, but now—
