Summary
“I think you lead people on.” Albus says.
“People? Plural? This is quite the accusation, Albus.” Scorpius drawls, an amused smile toying with the curve of his lips. There it is. Albus watches it and remembers what it feels like against his own. “Who do you think I’m leading on?”
Albus blinks up to meet Scorpius’ gaze. “I haven’t the faintest idea.”
Or: Albus and his ill-advised, alcohol-induced, intensely-yearning situationship with his best friend would be a lot more successful if they spent their time talking instead of kissing.

Summary
"All three of us were drowning, and we didn't know how to save each other, but there was an understanding that we were all drowning together."
Craig lives. Everyone is still trying to work out how to deal with that. Scorpius wants to feel normal again. Albus, well, Albus thinks that probably all anyone can see is a boy sitting on the ground.
ft. found family in the most unlikely of places, friends who have maybe always, on some level, been lovers, and learning to live after trauma.

Summary
“What are you doing here?” Albus repeats, turning to Karl. “I thought you were at that party?”
“I was,” Karl says, relaxing further into the carpet, “but it was boring as fuck. I realised I’d rather be here.”
“In my house?” Albus deadpans. He highly doubts that his room is anywhere near as interesting as the party Frankie is throwing while his parents are away.
“With you.”

Summary
“You are looking for trouble.” Albus jokes weakly, leaning back.
“I’ve been trying to,” Scorpius answers, refusing to play along like he has been suddenly, he doesn’t laugh or flirt or draw closer, just looks at him, “it seems to have been avoiding me though.”
“I haven’t been avoiding you-”
“Yes, you have, Albus,” Scorpius interrupts, “ever since the others arrived you’ve hardly spoken to me. Why?”
Albus ducks his head. Looks at his shoes in the sand. “You know why.”
OR: Polly decides she's been waiting long enough and she thinks Albus and Scorpius have too.

Summary
“So?”
“So what?”
“So,” she presses, undeterred, “are you going to ask me to Hogsmeade?”
Yann squints at her, as much as he clearly wants to keep a straight face, he’s failing. He’s never been good at hiding a smile, not one that he means.
“Nah.”
OR: Polly asks Yann to ask her out.

Summary
“I think people underestimate how stupid the human brain really is. It’s all very simple, the way we work. Remarkably so, honestly. If something causes us pain, our brain tells us to avoid it. Fear is one of the most singularly powerful motivators for survival we possess.”
Cardboard bites into Naim's palm. Fingers open, then close, crumpling it smaller and smaller, the coffee soaking between his fingers where the bloated paper releases it.
"So what happens when someone betrays you so thoroughly? How does your brain decide to process that? You’re fighting back against your own base instinct.”

Summary
“Nah, fuck Paris,” he says, nipping at the underside of Naim’s chin to make him laugh again, the kind of startled laugh that doesn’t know how to be self-conscious. Oh, Ryan thinks, he loves him.
He can’t say it out loud, not yet, notyetnotyetnotyet, so he chooses to be honest about the rest of it instead, says, “We’ll figure out Melbourne first. Yeah? Then—I dunno. We’ll go wherever you wanna go.”
“I wanna go where you wanna go,” Naim whispers, unbearably honest-sounding. Scratch that, thinks Ryan.
This is the happiest he’s ever been.

Summary
An entity wears the face of whoever they desire most, and solitude gives it room to hunt. Bound together by fear, Naim and Ryan travel through coaches and cheap motels, trying to outrun a punishment shaped exactly like love. But as guilt, grief, and unspoken betrayal follow them, Naim begins to wonder whether Ryan stays because he loves him — or because the monster wearing Naim’s face has left him no other choice.
-
Yet Naim knows it’s watching, waiting to rip him open like spoiled fruit. He hears the flies buzzing and feels himself rotting into something sticky-sweet and dripping, splitting down the middle.
