Summary
At first, Jon thought he could just… scare Erin and her brother-in-law away from the entrance into St. James’ Church underneath St. Paul’s. He was rather scary, after all. He found his way inside the church shortly before midnight (he was getting better at this breaking and entering thing), and waited for them near the spot where he thought he could sense the Dark, assuming that would be the entrance they would take.
He hadn’t counted on Erin Gallagher-Nelson’s response to his voice saying “you should leave this place” being to brain him with her torch.
“Erin, what the fuck! Did you just kill a guy?”
(S5 Jon goes back in time to pre-canon 2014 and tries to help a statement giver... it doesn't go like he expected).

Summary
The Phoenix catches him at the docks, looking like he's just out on a leisurely walk while the Heart Pirates load up their ship. "I said I'd let you harvest some organs," Marco says cheerfully, his eyes roving over all the frantic activity around them. He sidesteps one of the Kid Pirates, ducking out of the way as they barrel by with a crate entirely obscuring their forward view. "If you're still interested," Marco quips, "I've got the rest of this afternoon."
Law had assumed that was just OR banter and hadn't given the offer much thought since he'd had the man on a table several days ago. But Marco's time is, he's found, always in high demand and since he's decided to carve out a space in his hectic schedule for Law, he won't turn it down.

Summary
Law has heard much of the Whitebeard Pirates' medical operation, when they were still active: a huge, streamlined machine with Marco the Phoenix at its beating heart. Some of the best hospitals in the New World were located on Whitebeard-claimed islands, all of them referring to the Moby Dick's blueprint for infrastructure and logistics. He's not surprised to find the Phoenix in the triage area, patiently giving instruction to a young medic, but he is thrown off at the sight of the man elbows-deep in a dead body.

"Trafalgar Law," he repeats slowly. It’s heavy in his mouth and he’s careful with it because that's a name to conjure with.
"Yeah!” the young girl with bobbled pigtails says brightly. “You know, the doctor?"
That’s not the title James knows. "You mean the Surgeon?" He leaves off the of Death part, just because.
But the girl just beams. "Oh, it must be a different world after all, if he became a surgeon here! How wonderful for him; he always did like that part the best!"
The last James had heard, Trafalgar Law’s type of surgery involved cutting out people’s hearts and leaving them alive and empty. He eyes the girl in front of him and says, "...you're a terrifying young lady, aren't you?"
"Mm? No, I'm a doctor,” she says, bouncing on her toes. “Just like my big brother!"

Summary
Rocinante had rehearsed what he would say to Law, when they finally caught up with his new crew. He’d gone through scenario after scenario, an old habit borne of Sengoku’s coaching to first combat his paralyzing childhood anxiety and later to survive among his brother’s crew.
None of the scenarios he’d prepared for had involved a lanky youth in a hat taking one look at him and going white. “Shit!” he blurted, scrambling to his feet.
They had also never involved his redheaded companion throwing the wrench in his hand directly at Rocinante’s head. “Take that, you feathered FUCK!”
