or: To put it in simple terms, Heizou senses no kind of interest in taking part in the vision hunt decree’s orders. Which he successfully avoided for months on end by rarely showing up to the station.
Once he did, though, he was caught on a case where no clear path appeared before him to escape. One where he ought to find and arrest a well known fugitive.
Which he’d assumed would be easy, like every arresting order he came to have in his years as a Doushin. What he wouldn’t predict, nonetheless, was for said fugitive to pick at his interest instead. Going undercover and bearing a different name, Heizou found himself in a case to know more about the man rather than indulge in his task.

When paired with the lovely and vibrant poet, Akahito, Kuronushi is in grave danger of losing to him in the poetry contest. Since he believes he will be unable to defeat Akahito in poetry-writing, he copies his poem into a volume of Man’yō-shū. Amid these acts of treachery, romance and competition, the two poets disguise their feelings for each other, but will Akahito’s poetry finally break the ice encasing Kuronushi’s heart?
