It had been about a week since the sales department moved to the same building as Hanamaki's own department. He didn't remember exactly why, or how, but at a certain point in time, which he also couldn't recall, he started noticing a very specific presence that roamed around the hallways. Not a ghost, no, a man. A living man. A man that he also saw at lunch hours various times, often accompanied by two other people that Hanamaki couldn't care too much about. He had never heard him be mentioned, he had never talked to him.
Not until a particular night out for drinks. He heard a wisp of his voice, got a taste of his cockiness and a cherry of his nonchalant demeanor. All delicious to his palate.
He had only one wish:
"Stupid talent man, don't make me fall in love with you."

Yahaba isn't really friends with Kyotani. It's weird when they end up hanging at Yahaba's house to do a project. It's weird when Kyotani seems like an approachable person. It's weirder when Yahaba thinks that Kyotani is cute. All in all, Kyotani's upcoming birthday has nothing to do with Yahaba's internal crumble when realising he likes him. Oh, and he actually didn't remember the birthday part.
Just a short, boring fic about an awkward Friday night and an almost deus ex machina forcing of the birthday part.
