“Don’t feed the trolls.”
“Exactly. Did I not say the same thing to Barnes?” Tony asked rhetorically. “Were those not my exact words? I could have sworn they were, and yet.”
“Bucky’s feeding the trolls?”
“He’s throwing a goddamn seven-course troll banquet. Every time someone on Twitter asks if your relationship announcement is real, he replies. Colorfully.”
Steve opened his mouth to ask what “colorfully” meant, then caught the gleam in Tony’s eye and put two and two together. He blushed. Colorfully. “Oh.”
(Steve and Bucky announce their relationship in a very dignified press conference. Bucky then replies to every goddamn tweet asking him to confirm it with a different dirty euphemism. Things escalate from there.)

Bucky reached up to pat Steve’s cheek reassuringly, missed, and hung onto his neck instead. “What happened to you?”
“I joined the army.”
Bucky’s unfocused eyes drifted over him. This Steve was huge. It occurred to Bucky that maybe they were in heaven, where Steve had the strong, healthy body he never got to have on earth. It struck him as unfair. Steve had never deserved to be sick; why did he only get to be healthy after he was dead? “Are we dead?”
“C’mon, Buck, I need you to focus on me, okay? We have to get out of here. Can you walk?”
It didn’t occur to Bucky until much later that Steve had never answered his question.

Bucky laughs, pressing up against Steve's side so their shoulders knock together. "Goats are assholes, you know that? They're stubborn. Willful. Too damn smart. Not shy about making their opinions heard. You know anyone like that?"
"I don't know what you're insinuating," Steve says, and dares to move his hand to Bucky's neck. Bucky leans into the touch, his chin dipping down as his muscles relax. Steve's fingers creep under the knot of hair centered on the back of his head. Bucky reaches up and loosens it, shaking the hair out in invitation, so Steve moves behind him and runs his fingers through it, careful not to pull. Bucky hums and leans forward, folding his arms over the fence.

"Oh, so I should probably cut you loose," the Soldier deadpanned.
"It's a medical emergency. You don't want to be responsible for me losing limbs, do you?"
"Tell you what, if you lose your hands, I'll make you some new ones." He held up his metal hand, smallest finger crooked. “Pinkie promise.”
