He wishes he could get excited about the work, could even pretend that the idea of Jack being gone for another two, three, six months didn’t make him feel like Les at six, saying goodbye to Aunt Ada when she left for Chicago after a visit, tugging at her skirts and putting the apartment in a dark mood after she was gone.

Summary
After the events of season two, Matt throws himself into his Daredevil gig and finds himself crossing paths with The Punisher often enough that the two have a silent camaraderie going on. It's an endless cycle of saving each other's asses and an honour code that won't allow either of them to walk away indebted to the other. When Matt is injured assisting Frank, the closest safe place is his apartment and he lets The Punisher into his life to patch him up.

Logan on a table, Kitty in obvious distress, Bobby trying to soothe her to no avail, and Erik... Charles can feel them all. The Sentinels closing in. The sharp pike striking through Ororo's torso. Bishop screaming. Blink casting a portal behind Erik, allowing him to stumble back into the dark little room with metal shards protruding out of his chest. How did everything become such a mess? He knew the answer; that day on the beach.
