She took stock of her friends; Lucas was holding her upright, muttering in a steady stream of words, “You’re okay, you’re alright, you’re still here, I’ve got you.”
Dustin hovered over her right shoulder, hesitantly clutching at her teal windbreaker with both of his hands, the one around her shoulder trembling slightly as it lay there. Steve was crouched down to Lucas’ left on one knee — like they were in a dejected team huddle in a game they had no chance of winning.
Still here. No demonic claws choking the life out of her, no black widows creeping up her shoelaces.
Steve finally spoke up — wiping a still-shaking hand across his mouth — “Shit, kid, are you hurt at all?”

Max Mayfield fell back to Earth. Her friends were there to catch her.

Summary
Out of every result he could've predicted for the Anaxes mission, being invited into Clone Force 99 was not exactly one he'd put much thought into. That one's more along the lines of, 'never expected in the slightest'.
Echo wonders, sitting in the Marauder, whose idea it was to take him in. It’s not like Hunter sprung it on all of them at once right then and there.

“Maybe I’ll teach in other countries someday,” Anne suggests sleepily, idly dreaming about the way she would like to graze the tip of her finger along Gilbert's lash line.
“That sounds right up your alley.” Gilbert teases with a hint of a grin, but she can see the way he blinks, long and slow, like sleep might be getting to them both. “I would miss you, though.” He says, and for a moment, Anne is sure she’s heard him wrong.
She watches his face, but he shows no signs of making a joke or any sort of follow-up. “Well,” Anne says a bit uselessly, “I guess you’ll just have to write to me then.”
Gilbert smiles small. “I guess so.”

Reid stops walking and turns to face her, brows furrowed. "You asked me to stop talking about that."
"Only because we were in a movie theatre. I'm interested."
His brows furrow further, eyes narrowing as well like he's trying to suss out whether or not she's lying to him, and then drift over her shoulder, to some point behind her, and widen.
She frowns, turning around and trying to follow his gaze, but she can't figure out what he's looking at. There are still quite a lot of people milling about even at this late hour, though she supposes that's Vegas—or the outskirts of Vegas—for you, but nobody looks at all threatening. The most out-of-place person is a sharply-dressed man carrying a briefcase amongst all the people in going-out attire, but it's not like he's brandishing a weapon at them. "Reid, what—"
"Dad?"
OR: William Reid is a terrible parent, and Emily Prentiss is a wonderful friend.
