The world seemed to narrow to just the two of them as Sirius dropped to the crouch, icy eyes softening the moment they met Remus’. His expression shifted from exuberant to quiet concern in an instant, his smile turning tender.
“You look awful,” he murmured, brushing a hand through Remus’ hair with careful fingers. The motion was gentle, reverent, like he was afraid of hurting him, or maybe like he knew exactly how much he already hurt.
Remus let his eyes close for a second, lashes fluttering at the touch. Everything was too warm, the fire, the blankets, Sirius’ skin; but he leaned into it anyway, chasing the comfort.

Summary
The all consuming obsession continued through the war, somehow, Sirius focusing more on a random boat that had sunk more than three years prior than on the way their lives were imploding and their relationship was falling apart. Whenever Remus managed to come home, small absences from the pack which were far and few in-between, Sirius could barely stand to look him in the eye.
All Remus wanted was a hug from the person he loved most in the world. He never got it.
When everything was over, the war ended and their relationship in tatters, Sirius asked him to visit the site where the ship sank beneath the waves, and Remus didn’t think to ask things like when or how or, most importantly, why, before he answered, “Yes.”

Summary
The story of Remus' 5th year at Hogwarts, circa 1975. As he struggles with his furry little problem and his mental state crumbles, the Marauders try their best to pick up the pieces. Remus has his own coping mechanisms, but they're not exactly the healthiest of habits. It doesn't help that he's falling in love with his best friend during one of the worst years of his life.
