Summary
Odette so rarely allows her body language to be plainly understood anywhere but the stage. It's a transformative experience to see this look of want finally carved into Odette’s features in the dim lighting of their bedroom. It’s softer, kinder somehow than it is under the spotlight, vulnerable and delicate in a way that Vodyanitsa wants to pick apart until the bitter end.
“If I told you of my thoughts, you would have my entire soul,” Odette admits, her cold eyes piercing through Vodyanitsa in a way that swallows her whole. “The Fatui taught me many lessons I’ve grown to resent, but they were right to teach me solitude.”
Loneliness, love, and the devastating storm that follows.

“You spend that long on your own, you forget what it feels like,” Nami admits.
Zoro sits with the thought, nodding heavily. Then, he moves to take a large swig of the whiskey straight out the bottle.
“Least you could do is share, you know,” Nami grumbles.
Home, and what it means for those who have always been without.

Summary
See, Ben had died once. It was damn nice, or it would’ve been if any of his family had let him move on to the afterlife. Who’s he kidding? Ben hadn’t even let himself go up without saying goodbye.
Point being, Johnny had stared at Ben with a fiery determination afterward telling him he wasn’t allowed to go damn near anywhere unless Johnny said so. Ben had raised an eyebrow at the outburst, finding Johnny to be a bit selfish for not wanting Ben to experience the great beyond for himself. Back then, Ben saw it as a sign of his youth, a lack of understanding Johnny had regarding the weight of their circumstances.
And then Johnny had stared down waves of enemies who'd never stop, he'd been pulled apart and killed right before Ben's eyes, and Ben can't ever believe he'd been as selfish as to think that Johnny didn't understand the weight of the world they walked in.

Summary
Clorinde will love Navia, and that love will break her.
No, Clorinde thinks as her eyes follow the crease of Navia’s smile, I do not love you. Not yet.
And aren’t those just words to die for? Navia’s image laughs at her as if she knows every cruelty Clorinde’s fingers sing, and Clorinde's heart burns. It burns without end, and Clorinde doesn’t know how to be anything other than sick.
Love was the beginning of Clorinde. It'd be a shame for it to be the end.

Summary
Captain Tashigi stands over him, a seething expression on her face, and he’s no expert, but her voice doesn’t sound quite like he remembers it.
And she’s missing her glasses.
And he feels no pain.
And the familiar island behind them isn’t Thriller Bark, the trees reaching up to the sky endemic only to the East Blue.
Something in his stomach drops down into the sea.
Oh.
“Kuina?”
// Post-Thriller Bark—a reunion.

Summary
Jason flashes Hal the black credit card between his fingers. The name Bruce Wayne is printed on it in golden, cursive letters. He says, “My teenage rebellion phase is long overdue. Get in loser, we’re going shopping.”
“This is your third existential crisis this year,” Hal replies, but he gets into the Lamborghini and pulls out his phone to text Carol about missing work, because who is he to say no to putting a dent in Bruce Wayne's wallet?
(Or: a road trip for people who, for once, choose to deal with emotions.)

Summary
“Why are you here?” Hal asks, feeling the beginning of a headache pounding in his skull.
The kid stops chewing on Hal’s potato chips and looks at him as if he’s stupid for asking a reasonable question. “Because Batman hates you the most, duh.”
