There was a pause. Nicholas only assumed it was Fuma slowly shaking his head in response, his stomach dropping more as he waited for Fuma to finally confirm his suspicions.
“It’s early, I didn’t think I’d need them so soon.”
“Do you want,” Nicholas starts, the pause enough to coax Fuma out from where he had retreated under his sheets, barely enough to catch a glimpse of bright red ears and a flushed face hidden under messy bangs, “help?”
