Summary
The footsteps stopped, and a figure took shape by the doorframe. But instead of the Alhaitham he’d gotten used to, someone else stared back at him.
Fluffy grey hair. Teal-orange eyes set into a familiar face. An aura of inextinguishable confidence, maybe even cockiness. Kaveh would never not recognize Alhaitham, but this Alhaitham was different.
He was shorter. Thinner. Wearing an Akademiya uniform that he certainly hadn’t touched in years. His expression was one of surprise—widened innocent eyes and a slacked jaw. The final kick was a pair of puffed-out, pinchable, sunkissed cheeks that Kaveh missed oh-so-dearly.
“Kaveh?” he called breathily.
After another bad fight with Alhaitham, Kaveh reminisces on their younger days and wishes he could go back to the past to fix their relationship.
Little did he know the past would be coming to him instead.

“What?” Aether barked out, speaking at a volume much louder than what was normal for the adventurer. He looked truly caught off guard by Lyney’s statement as if Lyney was being odd for expressing his apologies. Lyney hesitates, fearing that perhaps the signals he thought Aether was giving him were wrong, that he was being a fool once again. Before Lyney can say anything else, Aether cuts him off. “Sorry, I just… I was going to apologize.”

With one final cry and a rapid flutter of his wings, Aedon takes off.
Bolts of electro pursue him, but the nightingale is quick. He weaves around the barrage of attacks and soars up and away into the sky until his golden glow disappears, and Illuga is left alone with his captors.
It will be fine, he repeats to himself. Aedon will get help. He’ll go find my squad, or my old pops, or Flinsー
