Suga pulled Noya down from the chair. Daichi finally decided enough was enough. He knew he was just doing it to draw him in, and damn it, it worked (just like it always worked against him), because there was no way he was letting Suga get into one of Kuroo and Bokuto’s competitions.
Suga had their libero thrown over one shoulder by the time Daichi reached them. “Daichi-san! Look!” Noya chirped, waving the arm that wasn’t wrapped around the vice-captain.
Suga put up his free arm, flexing, and gave Daichi a wink.

"Sugawara," Daichi greets, letting a genuine grin come onto his face. "It's been ages."
He comes closer now, walks over to where Sugawara is sitting on the chair under the stairs, book still sprawled open across his lap. Then stops, grin frozen on his face. He stares.
Wow. On second thought, maybe things have changed.
They meet a year after graduation, long after they’ve gone their separate ways. Daichi finds a lot more to Sugawara than he expected to - but perhaps, that’s not exactly a bad thing.

He looks tired, but not exhausted. The shadows under his eyes are no news, nor is his apocalyptic hair. Koutarou wants to reach out and run his fingers through it, but he's wanted all sorts of ridiculous shit for no reason at all— there's no need to want it when he’s always had it, so he doesn't know why he still wants it. He doesn't want to know why.

The first time Suguru meets Gojo, he knows it must be a mistake.
“Are you okay?” are words that should never be coming out of that guy’s mouth. Especially now.
It’s just his luck; his shitty, good-for-nothing luck that landed him a soulmate that’s the complete opposite of what he likes.
Suguru knows his type. Mild. Kind. Brown eyes, maybe. Someone that he can talk to easily and stay silent with just as well. Not this arrogant, snarky, loudmouth of a sorcerer. Suguru barely got the chance to summon his cursed spirits before the guy came jumping into his scene, laughing like it’s all a joke as he exorcises a Grade 2 with a swipe of his fingers.
“Suguru-kun, you have a kind soulmate,” he remembers his aunt telling him. “Their first words are out of worry for you.”
He looks back at Gojo, bashing a curse’s head into the concrete, gleeful like a child with a new toy, and thinks, bullshit.

"You do seem to do that a lot," Nobara mused. "It's like you enjoy making him so mad he punches you."
"That was once," Fushiguro pointed out.
"Yeah, and?"
"Alright, settle down," Gojo interrupted. "Megumi has been easy to annoy for as long as I've known him, it's too good to pass up."
"It's not like you've known him for a long time, though," Yuji mused, "He's only 15." Even if Fushiguro had been at school before Yuji, it couldn't have been longer than a few weeks.
"It feels like forever," Fushiguro groaned. He put his head down on the table; Gojo reached across to stroke his hair. Fushiguro slapped his hand.
Maybe Yuji had been too fast to call favouritism. If he was Gojo, he would spend his time annoying Fushiguro too.
Gojo's shit-eating grin had faded into a soft smile as Fushiguro scowled at him from across the table. "I bought you mochi," he offered. He held up a bag, separate from the mix-and-match bundle he'd brought for the rest of the school to share.
Then again, maybe Yuji had been spot on.
