Dazai looked down at his shoes in defeat. His hands were still shaking on his sides and the rings under his eyes were so dark Chuuya could see them in the night. Waves were crushing against the harbour behind them. Dazai sighed and he sounded miserable and exhausted beyond belief.
Or: Dazai’s genius head won’t let him sleep. Chuuya tries to do something about it despite himself.

On the kitchen’s table there was a lily bulb in yellow vase. Atsushi brought it home a few weeks before and told him it was for him to water and grow. He promised to take care of it. Not slaughtering his enemies wasn’t enough anymore; he needed to make something live.

“You’re not my Kaiser. What happened to you?” This world's Ness keeps repeating, heartbreak bleeding through every word. “I want him back. Give him back to me!”
“I want to go back, too.” Kaiser dissociates, retreating from the sting of rejection by someone he didn’t know could cut this deep. “This world disgusts me.”
“Why? Because I see you?” Ness is firm but kind, crawling across the tangled sheets to close the space between them. “Because I know you?”
"Shut up!"
Ness falls silent, but there’s a fire in his eyes that lets Kaiser know this version of Ness is dangerous. Maybe his Ness is, too. Because, under Ness's gaze, Kaiser is completely-
“You wouldn’t let me kiss your neck for the longest time,” Ness says, like he isn’t unraveling Kaiser from the inside out. “Now it’s your favorite.”

He’s here. His dad is here and Touya feels loved.

Summary
In his past life, the only person who had ever been so gentle with him was his mother — and even that had been only temporary, as the rancid air of their poisonous home had gradually drained at her sanity until she could hardly stand the sight of him, much less hold him close like she once did.
Now, there is Hawks. The hero is gentle with him like his mother once was, as if he’s something more than the amalgamated patchwork monster that had risen from the grave of a dead boy with one singular task in mind: destroy his creator, no matter the cost.
Affection has never been his to keep for long. Dabi doesn’t know what to do with it.
(or: Hawks washes his hair, and the intimacy of it means nothing when Dabi knows how this ends.)
