    Summary

A wedding musician and a mortician with an occupied casket enter a chantry during a snowstorm.

An explosively nasty meet-ugly, a dead car battery, and a power outage later, they find themselves trapped together for the night.

Will they be able to resist the allure of *shared body heat*? Or will they strangle each other first?

Featuring a sassy and slightly bitchy Emmrich Volkarin and the impudent, antagonistic Maren Mercar.

This is a completed work and will be 3 chapters total, updating every couple of days as I edit.

    Summary

For decades Emmrich Volkarin had been the gold standard of what an alpha should be, composed in the face of instinct, unshakable under pressure. Across all four major universities in Thedas, he was one of only three alphas permitted to hold full tenure. Trusted to lecture in rooms thick with scent, to remain unmoved through every stage of designation flux. He had built a reputation on control.
He had even written the definitive text on the subject. Instinct and Intellect: Navigating Designation with Dignity. It was still used in half of the academic circles from Starkhaven to the Free Marches.

So why, at his age, with all his accolades and experience, was this becoming so Maker-forsaken difficult?
