Summary
When Simon starts to have nightmares on Erid that have nothing to do with the ocean of blood, the road to a familiar new place opens. Simon can feel someone calling to him from across the gap, someone he never even knew he was missing.
Dave Torres is alone and scared on a dying world. Okay, so he's not completely alone, but without Katie he feels that way. He doesn't know what's happening, and he doesn't know what's causing it but he knows it has to do with him. When he starts dreaming of an ocean of blood, he begins to question even that belief.
Ryland Grace is missing someone, a man he's been missing his whole life that no one remembers the name of. No one except him. He'd given up on seeing him years ago, but when his partner asks for his help he gains a chance he never could have imagined.

Summary
I just think Billy deserved to have to suffer through redeeming himself, Steve deserves to get to be a punk, and Eddie deserves to get to be even more metal. And they all deserve each other.
Billy is forcefully brought out of his post season 3 coma, and slowly discovers he's got some carry over from having been possessed by a mindflayer. Good thing there's plenty of monsters around to practice on.
Steve is just trying to make sure his kids all make it through this newest quest, and maybe trying to learn a little bit more about who he really is now that life has stripped him of everything he ever thought he was.
Eddie doesn't really want to be here, but who is he to tell two gorgeous men no? He might be a coward, but he's not stupid. He's well aware that those without swords can still die by them.

But that seemingly simple task may just come to change her in ways she can't yet imagine.
;P They won't get out of my head. I'm obsessed with this pairing. Due to who it it, this story is brutal.

The chapters vary in length and can be read as standalone pieces, but they are written to be read in order, and they assume you have read Seed of Life before this. Taking Root is post-canon to that story and rests entirely on it.

Simon survived the Eel and the Eye, only to reimprisoned as soon as he was pulled out, subject to the whims of scientists who seek answers in his biology. Now, Ava's dumped him into the custody of a new scientist, separate from the COI, a complete unknown. He's learned better by now than to hope.
Dr. Ryland Grace is pulled from his peaceful life on Erid to retrieve a specimen from the COI, an organism mutated by prolonged exposure to the blood ocean of AT-5
