“You think too highly of me,” Aventurine says. “I must disappoint you here, doctor. I’m afraid I’m rather ignorant on the topic, but what does it matter?”
There’s a funny expression on Ratio’s face, surprised and eager, all at once. “If you’re not especially familiar with your pleasure,” he says, “let us change that.”

“Tonight’s the night, doctor,” Aventurine purrs, tugging him by the sash as they enter through another door, leading to another bar.
It’s a less grandiose one, hidden in an alleyway, but the gambler has persuaded him into thinking that the harder the find, the rarer the delicacies… or maybe Ratio’s will simply wavered when he felt a playful tug to his sash. “I’ll show you how drunk I can really get.”
Ratio huffs, upturn of his lips betraying him. He lets himself be led inside the crowd, seated at a stool that nearly topples from the force of impact. “Give me a good show then.”
The wine urges me on, the bewitching wine, which sets even a wise man to singing and to laughing gently and rouses him up to dance and brings forth words which were better unspoken.
