Summary
As soon as she is certain that Bren's footsteps have faded—he has gotten lazy with it, telegraphing his movements, forgetting to quiet his steps, as if he had learned nothing from the master at all— Astrid pushes Eadwulf into the nearby wall.
He lets out a grunt, but says nothing as she unbuckles her belt, all of her frustrations being released as the leather snaps and pulls.
"Who does he think he is?" she mutters, taking one of Eadwulf's hands that have begun to wander on her waist and pushing it into her pants. In which Astrid vents some frustrations after seeing Bren again

Summary
“So…” Beauregard cleared her throat, hand stilling in its rapid pace, writing down every word she could. “Even before… all of this, you were acting in Ikithon’s position? Running the Volstrucker program, at least.”
There were… a lot of thoughts in her mind about how Beauregard phrased that. Largely of the fuck you, you don’t know my life variety, but she was far too dignified to say that to her face. She hoped the scowl on her face conveyed it appropriately.Or: Astrid has some strong feelings about Beau's line of questioning for the Ikithon trial

“They will pardon me?” he asks hesitantly, because he still can’t fathom it’s real.
She nods, arms crossed as she leans against Caleb’s desk. “They need someone who knows Ludinus, who’s willing to work against him. Astrid won’t budge, Caleb is… well, we can’t ask him to do that, so… it’s you.”In which Beau finds the right man for the job

Summary
If there’s one thing Ashton Greymoore gets, it’s the weirdos.
Right off the fucking bat, they took one look at Laudna and her fun-scary shit and went “yup, that’s one of my people.” Even before they knew about her weird Delilah shit and fucking dying, they knew they’d get along.
So when he rolls over on his bedroll and notices that she’s still awake, sniffing back tears and wiping at her face, well, fuck, man, he gets it. -

Summary
She returns to the backroom, Vivian in tow, and loads the tape into the player before dropping onto the sofa next to the other girl with the TV remote in hand.
"I hope it's as good as everyone's saying." Vivian ponders as she settles against the cushions, slipping off her shoes and tucking her legs underneath herself to get comfortable.
"I'm sure we'll still enjoy it together, regardless."
"I'm sure we will." Vivian repeats, smiling.
A movie night that turns out to have an after-credits scene neither of them expected.
