   Wilhelm wonders if Simon feels it too.

   This attraction between them like they were always bound to crash into each other. Wilhelm thinks back to something he once read about elliptical orbits. The fact that a star can be ejected by gravity, as if hurled out of its galactic orbit when it passes too close to another star, and then drift into the empty void forever.

   or what could have happened if Wilhelm ended up leaving Hillerska after winter break and didn't speak to Simon for nine years.
