    Ryland got in line and looked at the menu. Then he let his eyes wander down to the pastry case. Everything looked delicious. A young woman slid out an empty tray and replaced it with a fresh tray of apple fritters. Ryland’s mind was instantly made up.
    The couple in front of him moved out of the way and it was now his turn to order,
    “Hey, what can I get for you?” The man at the register asked.
